About PHAT BAGEL
Nestled in the heart of Bloomfield, Pittsburgh’s beloved “Little Italy,” Phat Bagel is a locally owned and operated hand-rolled bagel shop. At Phat Bagel, we’re not just baking fresh, delicious bagels daily — we’re reinventing the entire bagel experience.
Sure, we love cream cheese (who doesn’t?), but we believe spreads deserve to be bold, creative, and personal. That’s why Phat Bagel offers a fully customizable spread bar that transforms your bagel from a simple snack into a flavor adventure.
Whether you're in the mood for a stacked breakfast sandwich, a bagel topped with a custom spread, or simply a perfectly baked bagel on its own, we’ve got you covered.

Cool place with great bagels. I ordered online and they’re super fast. My bagel looked as good as I hoped. If you’re into this style of bagel, you should stop by!

I really wanted to like this place and I really felt for the staff. They seemed overwhelmed with the volume of online orders, and it looked like they simply needed more people working. Everyone appeared to be doing their best under a lot of pressure. Unfortunately, the bagels themselves were a disappointment. We ordered them toasted, and my onion bagel was so burnt that the onions were completely black. The toppings on the everything bagel were also mostly burnt. I understand that toasting a bagel comes with some risk, but this was well beyond that point and made both bagels unpleasant to eat. The bright spot was the egg, which was cooked perfectly. We ended up taking the sandwiches home, transferring the fillings onto regular toast, and eating them that way because the bagels themselves weren’t edible. For the price, I expected a much better experience. I actually think this place has a lot of potential. It’s in a great location, and with a little more staffing and some attention to consistency in the kitchen, it could become a fantastic neighborhood bagel shop. I hope they figure it out, because I’d be willing to give them another try in the future.

a little feedback. Sandwich was 9$. Does this look like a respectable breakfast sandwich? Two strips of bacon split into 4 and one egg for this. Also asked for the bacon to be crispy. And I waited for the bacon to be crispy with no problem. I Guess grill not powerful enough. I wanted no cheese but for what I got I’m glad because that would’ve been an extra dollar. Only plus is, I think they make their own bagels. Merante brothers near mercy hospital will give you a respectable breakfast sandwich for the same amount $. 4-5 strips of bacon 2 eggs and cheese same price!!

This place is good, I think you just need to know the right thing to get! I think the best options are either the original or everything. I had an asiago once that didn’t taste super cheesey but it was still a good bagel. I also think, if you’re getting a sandwich, it’s better to opt for actual cheese and skip the cream cheese. Since the egg is a patty, I think it needs the slice of cheese almost as a binding agent. I once got a sausage and egg sandwich with cream cheese (no actual cheese) and everything just slid off and it was super messy. Next time I got a bacon egg and american cheese and it was a much better to eat - nothing sliding off and was still fulfilling! If you want cream cheese I would just opt for the standard bagel & cream cheese combo. Bagels are huge and the sandwiches are a very filling $10. I also prefer these softer, dougher bagels to the harder/crispier bagels some other local spots have! I wish they cut them in half but it’s not the biggest deal and an easy fix to do yourself. Overall a good spot.

Well, it’s definitely fat! -1 star for there not being a SPK option. I got 1 ketchup packet in the bag. Also, i know it’s a very small operation with what seems like the two co owners trying hard to do everything themselves, but some fried eggs cracked fresh on a griddle and thrown on a BEC would really make a huge difference. I didn’t mind the egg patty but i also did not care for it. Bagel itself was good! I personally like mine more chewy and less toasty/burnt, but i didn’t see an option to get it not toasted. I would totally come back as the owners are really nice guys who know what they’re doing. I’m excited to see this place expand and grow into (hopefully) a local bagel shop/ deli even! Pittsburgh definitely needs more of those!
